Tomorrow is New Year’s Day. The first day. The fresh start. A whole beautiful brand new year, stretching out ahead of you, full of promise and potential. What do you want for yourself, for your family? What do you want of yourself?
I’m not one of those folks who disparage New Year’s Resolutions, quite the contrary. A New Year’s Resolution is just a fancy name for a personal goal, and goals, in my opinion, are very good things.
I’m going to spend today thinking about who I want to be this time next year. And what I have to do between now and then to be that person on December 31, 2015.
And then, tomorrow, I’ll start down the road to getting there.
The year won’t go perfectly according to plan; I know that. I will probably have to pivot at some point, or manage unforeseen obstacles; I know that, too. That’s okay. Setting the goals and striving for the goals is still a very good thing. It motivates me, it drives me, it gives me a purpose and a direction for my energies.
How about you, Mamma? Where do you see yourself? What are you reaching for?
Go, Mamma, go.
Happy New Year, girl.
